The
Youth Cricket Academy (YCA) coached its first cricketers on October
the 7th 2001. Various sources were used to come up with the training
programs that would be used by our coaches, from South African cricketers
to provincial coaches.
The aim
of the YCA is to give the cricketers that attend whatever they require
to improve their game. The strongest cricketers are taught some of the
finer points which schools cannot afford the time to teach, while the
weaker ones will have to get the basics fine-tuned before moving onto
the more intricate aspects of the sport.
The coaches
are all qualified, experienced and have a wonderful rapport with the cricketers.
In summer the cricketers are divided into groups of 5 or less and remain
with those other 4 cricketers until the end of the term, unless a cricketer
is moved to a group of different strength.
The cricketers
learn the correct techniques of batting, bowling and fielding. In
winter the YCA coaches cricketers privately, with a coach for every
player. In the December holidays the cricketers are able to enroll
for cricket matches, which will be played at the Youth Cricket Academy
fields.
Every
cricketer that has attended the YCA has been worked and improved on,
because unless you are the best player in the world, there is always
room for improvement. |
