Youth Cricket Academy

This very exciting series of matches was started for talented cricketers at the YCA who were already playing hard ball cricket at the YCA but were still too young to play cricket at school. The matches take place at the YCA on a real pitch with rather small boundaries, to allow for maximum scoring. The games are played with a real cricket ball on a full length pitch. It is similar to the international Pro 20 matches, with a free hit for a no-ball, but much more leniency when it comes to wides. Boys bat for a maximum of five overs, unless they are dismissed and each fielder has to bowl two overs. These matches are umpired by two coaches, who help the young cricketers adapt to playing real cricket. The players who have participated in these matches have improved tremendously due to time spent on the field, and as a result understand and read the game far better than most boys their age. Due to its popularity we offer the 20 over matches to older boys as well.
